FAQ

  • What is Risograph printing?

Risograph printing is a stencil based process similar to screenprinting! Original images are copied on the machine’s flatbed scanner, or sent directly to the printer from a computer. These images are then “burned” onto a master sheet which is wrapped on one of the color drums in the printer. During printing, the drums spin at high speeds, pushing ink through the master, transferring the image onto paper. Please refer to our Riso Printing page for more info.

  • How much does Risograph printing cost?

It depends on your project! Risograph printers are excellent at high volume printing, and the more you print the cheaper each print gets. Some other factors that influence the final cost are the number of inks used, paper, and binding and finishing services. Since no project is the same, we’re unable to give accurate estimates without a full quote request form!

  • How long will my project take to complete?

Depending on the number of jobs we have in our queue, we may be able to get your project printed within our minimum estimated 10 day turnaround. We are typically able to complete prints in 1-2 weeks, and zines/books in 3-4 weeks. Depending on the scope and complexity of the project, this is subject to variability. Once quotes and payments are finalized, we’ll schedule printing time for your project during our open hours, and send an estimated completion date. Rush orders (less than a 10 day turnaround) are subject to an additional rush fee.

  • Will you print my one-of-one print?

Unfortunately, we will not print any one-of-one artwork. By design, the risograph is a high volume duplicator, and our minimum print quantity is 50 per order. For zines and booklets, our minimum is 25 per order.

  • What type of payment do you accept?

All invoices are sent with a secure payment link, either directly through our bank using ACH payments (E-checks), or through PayPal.

  • How should I send my files?

When sending over files for the separate layers in your print, PDFs are preferred, and each file should be labelled with your last name or project title and the ink color used for that layer. ex. “lastname_pinkortitle_red”.

  • Do you print t-shirts?

The Risograph is a paper only printer, and we unable to print on fabric of any kind. All of the t-shirts we have available for sale are printed out of house by other small businesses. If you would like to print t-shirts or any other fabric based project, we will happily forward you their information!
